Re: Chapters 1 - 6, group re-read discussion (7th - 20th March)
I have a lot of thoughts on the first few chapters, but most notably; Oh my gods and foxes! I'd forgotten quite how whiny Quentin was at the beginning of the first book. "Le roi s'amuse", honestly! You're a mopey 17 year old, you are not (yet) a king, get over yourself, Quentin Coldwater!
How have you all found it? I was surprised by how many details I'd missed on my first read-through, and how many things make sense in the context of the whole series that I was missing when I read it through the first time. I'm very, very much looking forward to hearing Julia's story again.
I'm going to be honest; I plowed ahead and finished the first book this weekend, so honestly I'm chomping at the bit. Going back and doing a slower read of some of the later brakebills stuff (especially Q's last year, and Brakebills South) is probably going to be useful though.
